Spartans Continue To Build Momentum, Shine At Fresno State Invitational

CLOVIS, Calif. - The San José State track and field teams returned to action this weekend at the Fresno State Invitational for the program's final regular season meet before next month's conference championships. 

The showing was highlighted by a school record for senior Daryia Greene in the women's 400m. 

The Spartans will return to competition at the Mountain West Championships, which are scheduled for May 13-15 in Clovis. 

MEET NOTES

- Senior Daryia Greene placed first and set a school record in the women's 400m, clocking a time of 54.09 seconds. The mark eclipses the program's previous best of 55.24 seconds (Caitlin Wilson, 2015 Beach Invitational). 

- Greene also impressed in the women's 200m, moving into second on the program's all-time performance list with a mark of 24.20 seconds. 

- Senior Lonsha Bradford and junior Sophia Liao finished one-two in the women's 100m. Bradford moved into second on the program's all-time performance list with her time of 11.82 seconds. 

- Senior Camilla Hanson took home first place in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a mark of 11:06.23. 

- The women's 4x100 team finished in first place and set a school record with its mark of 45.32 seconds. The team currently ranks No. 17 in the region (top-24 qualify for nationals). 

- The women's 4x400 team also impressed, setting a school record with a time of 3:44.74 in its first place showing. 

- Senior Kylia Smith and sophomore Mahkaia Lee finished one-two in the women's long jump with marks of 5.70m and 5.69m, respectively. 

- Sophomore Gracious Togiai finished first in the women's shot put, hitting 14.45m to cruise to the victory over the rest of the field. 

- Juliette Noyer (2:10.85) and Mikayla Akers (2:11.13) both had personal bests in the women's 800m.

- In one of the program's most impressive events of the day, the Spartans swept the podium in the men's 400m dash. Senior Aidan Jardon placed first with a time of 47.75 seconds while fellow senior Nicholas Harper (48.55) and freshman Harry Overstreet (48.61) finished right behind him. 

- The Spartan men went 1-2 in the high jump as freshman Kyle Jankans placed first with a mark of 2.11m. Another freshman - Tyler Cash - was just behind Jankans at 2.01m. 

- Sophomore Jacob Lopez finished first in the shot put, hitting a mark of 15.78m.
