Indianapolis, Ind.—For the 25th time in school history, the San José State women's golf team will play at an NCAA Regional as the Spartans were selected to play at the NCAA Stanford Regional, May 10-12, at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Spartans are one of 18 teams selected to the Stanford Regional and enter the competition seeded 14th in the region. The top-six teams advance to the NCAA Championship, May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
"We are super excited about going to Stanford for regionals," said Spartan head coach Dana Dormann. "I am really proud of this team for stepping up after we lost Natasha (Andrea Oon) for the season. The way everyone stepped up and filled that gap is amazing. We look forward to competing at Stanford where we have had success in the past. Let's go!"
The Stanford Regional teams include Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, Southern California, Virginia Tech, Stanford, Arizona, Florida, Northwestern, Iowa State, Denver, TCU, San Diego State, Pepperdine, San José State, New Mexico State, Cal Poly, Sacramento State and Navy.
The Spartans will begin the first-round play on Monday, May 10, at 9:50 a.m. off the first tee with Pepperdine and New Mexico State. Second and third round tee times will be determined by scores.
Three other regionals will be played in Columbus, Ohio, Simpsonville, Ky., and Baton Rouge, La.
