#17-Spartans Lose To #3-UCLA, 18-6

San Jose, Calif.----- UCLA scored the first six goals and went on to defeat San Jose State University, 18-6, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) women's water polo match.
           
            The #17-ranked Spartans (1-8, 0-5 MPSF) did not get on the scoreboard until the 7:32 mark of the second quarter when Lili Urvari scored the first of her two goals. She was the only multi-goal for San Jose State. Emma Hank,  Isabella Schmidt, Olga Descalzi Portell on a 5-meter penalty shot, and Sierra Painter on a power play also scored for the Spartans.
 
            Hannah Palmer of UCLA (6-1, 4-1 MPSF) led all players with three goals on four shots. The Bruins (6-1, 4-1 MPSF) also got two-goal efforts from Ava Johnson, Annaliese Miller, Malia Allen, Myna Simmons, and Katrina Drake. Eleven of #3-ranked UCLA's 14 field players scored in the match as the Bruins attempted 35 shots to the Spartans' 30.
 
            Hannah Henry faced the Bruin shooting barrage as the San Jose State goalkeeper the first three quarters. She made several point-blank saves among her 10 for the contest. Elaina Davey played the fourth quarter and was credited with one save.
 
            Georgia Phillips stopped five Spartan shots on goal for UCLA.
 
            The two teams conclude a two-match conference series, Sunday, April 4, in a 1:00 p.m. contest at the San Jose State University Recreation and Aquatics Center. Spectators are not allowed at the venue.
