Napa, Calif.—Kajsa Arwefjäll shot an even-par 72 during the second round to lead the San José State women's golf Tuesday afternoon at the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa. The Spartans ended the day in eighth place.
Arwefjäll ended the day tied for 10th at two-over 146. She started the day making pars on four of her first five holes with a birdie on the par-4 #3. Arwefjäll finished the front nine at one-over par before making par on eight of her final nine holes with a birdie on the par-5 #16.
Louisa Carlbom shot a six-over 78 and is now tied for 26th at seven-over 151. She was four-over for her round through nine holes, but started the back nine par-par-birdie to go to three over. However, she made bogeys on three of her final four holes to end at six over.
Antonia Malate shot a five-over 77 and moved up to 31st place at eight over 152. She was one-over par after nine holes, making four pars, three bogeys and birdies on #2 and 39. Malate was one-over through 111 holes before two bogeys and a double bogey had her end the round with a 77.
Jordyn Parr was eight-over par (80) for the day and is tied for 57th at 13-over 157. She had two birdies on the front nine. Jadan Gonzalez rounded out the Spartan lineup by shooting an 87 and is tied for 65th at +16.
San José State is in eighth place at 602 (+26) and are just one shot behind Northwestern in seventh place and six shots in front of Mountain West foe UNLV (608, +32). UCLA leads the tournament at one-over 577.
Final round action begins with a shotgun start Wednesday at 8 a.m. The Spartans will play the final round with Northwestern and Iowa State.
