Stanford, Calif.—Junior Antonia Malate shot an even-par 71 and is in the top-20 after the first round of the NCAA Stanford Regional. The San José State women's golf team shot a 297 (+13) to a tie at 13th with Sacramento State on the par-71 Stanford Golf Course.
Malate finished the day tied for 17th among the field of 95 golfers at the regional. She shot one-under for the first nine holes, making birdies on the sixth and seventh holes, six pars and a bogey. On the back nine, she made bogey-par-birdie to stay at one-under par, but back-to-back bogeys and a birdie on #16 left her at even par. Malate made pars on her final two holes to finish with a 71.
Kajsa Arwefjäll shot a one-over 72 and is tied for 33rd. She made three birdies and two bogeys over her first nine holes to shoot a one-under 34. She got to two-under par after a birdie on #12, but a double bogey on #13 found her back at even par. Arwefjäll made four pars and a bogey on #17 to finish at 72.
Jordyn Parr shot a three-over 74 and is tied for 51st. She made two birdies and 11 pars during her round. Louisa Carlbom is tied for 93rd at nine-over 80, while Jadan Gonzalez is 91st at 12-over 83.

Second round action for the Spartans begins on hole #10 at 9 a.m., on Tuesday. San José State plays with Sacramento State and TCU.
