Colorado Springs, Colo.---- FOX Sports will be "in the house" for a pair of San José State University football scheduling "firsts" and a lot more in 2021.
Six of the Spartans' eight Mountain West conference games are an integral component of the league's broadcast schedule of 22 games starting with the September 18 San Jose State conference opener at the University of Hawaii. FS1 will provide the coverage of the first Spartan-Rainbow Warrior football game on the University of Hawaii campus in the 85 years and 27 times the teams have played in Honolulu.
The multigenerational football series with Hawaii is overshadowed in time by San Jose State's first football game on a Thanksgiving day since 1956 to conclude the regular season. The defending Mountain West champion Spartans will host rival Fresno State in CEFCU Stadium, Thursday, November 25. San José State and Fresno State will play for the Valley Trophy, presently in the Spartans' possession. Either FOX or FS1 will televise the 84th meeting between these teams at a time to be announced at a later date.
In between FOX's coverage of the Hawaii and Fresno State games, San Jose State has four more Mountain West games on a FOX broadcast channel in 2021. There are the road games at Colorado State on October 9 and the November 6 game at Nevada and home contests with Wyoming on October 30 and Utah State on November 13.
Game times for the Colorado State, Wyoming, Nevada, and Utah State contests also will be announced likely 12 days before the respective contest.
The six regular season appearances on FOX are the most by San Jose State on a national broadcast network since 2016 when the Spartans were on the CBS Sports Network six times. A seventh FOX Sports telecast this season is possible if San Jose State represents the conference's West Division in the Mountain West football championship game on December 4.
FS1 and FS 2 channels are available on DirecTV (Channel 219 for FS1, 618 for FS2), DISH Network (Channel 150 for FS1 and 149 for FS2), Xfinity (Channel 408 for FS1, 410 for FS2) and on many other cable systems. Online, FOX telecasts can be seen on FOXsports.com. Paid streaming services include the Bally Sports app, fuboTV, Hulu, Sling TV, and YouTubeTV.
Combined with the May 26 Mountain West announcement of nationally-televised football games, nine of San Jose State's 12 regular season games will be on FOX Sports or the CBS Sports Network.
Mountain West telecasts by Stadium will be announced in the near future. San Jose State also has road games at USC on September 4 and at Western Michigan on September 25 under the jurisdiction of the Pacific-12 and/or Mid-American Conference television contracts.
