SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose State women's soccer has named Aliyah Jones the program's director of operations. Head coach Lauren Hanson made the announcement on Wednesday.
"I am thrilled to have Aliyah back as part of our program again," Hanson said. "She was a positive, bright light who helped build our winning culture as a player, and I look forward to her bringing that same energy as our director of operations!"
Jones was a four-time letter winner for the Spartans women's soccer program from 2014-17, and was a two-time Academic All-Mountain West selection. In 2017, she was a co-recipient for the SJSU Coaches' Award. Jones graduated from San Jose State in 2018 with a bachelor's in science, Kinesiology, Exercise and Fitness Specialist.
After graduation, Jones began her soccer coaching career at Mountain View High School for the 2018-19 season. That year, she helped lead the program to the league championship title and a spot in the CCS Playoffs. Since 2018, she has served as the head coach of the Los Gatos United Soccer League where she has been in charge of the development of tactical routines, training regimens, strength and conditioning and practice plans for three different teams.
"To come back and work for Coach Hanson and a staff that has been so supportive of me is an honor and a blessing," Jones said. "I am so excited to give back to a program that has given me so much. I welcome this opportunity with gratitude, and I cannot wait for what is to come!"
