SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose State men's basketball has signed the first five new faces of the Tim Miles era. Myron Amey, Alvaro Cardenas Torre, Tibet Görener, Majok Kuath and Joshua O'Garro have all officially signed their letters of intent and will join the Spartans for the upcoming season.
The class includes a pair of Power Five transfers, a transfer that dominated at the JUCO level, and two freshmen - one local product and an international prospect.
Myron Amey, Guard, 6-3
A native of Vacaville, Amey returns to his home state after one season of prep school experience at Scotland Campus in Pennsylvania. In three games, he averaged 20.3 points per game with a single-game high of 26.
Prior to his stint on the east coast, Amey was a star on both the hardwood and gridiron for Vacaville High. He joins the Spartans with four years of eligibility remaining.

Alvaro Cardenas Torre, Guard, 6-1
Cardenas Torre brings a plethora of experience at the international level to the South Bay. A native of Spain, he played in the Czech Republic last season at the Get Better Academy, competing in the Czech Republic Liga I (2nd Division). He also played for U19 Division where he averaged 10.3 points per game.
In 2019-20, Cardenas Torre played for CB La Zubia for the Spain EBA League. He appeared in 21 games where he averaged 5.1 points per contest.
Cardenas Torre has four years of academic eligibility remaining.

Tibet Görener, Forward, 6-9, 200
Görener joins the Spartans after spending his freshman season at the University of Arizona. In his lone season with the Wildcats, the forward made eight appearances off the bench, scoring nine points on the year.
A native of Istanbul, Turkey, Görener was Turkey's leading scorer at 14.4 points per game as he led his team to a third-place finish at the 2018 FIBA U16A European Championships. He excelled from long range shooting nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc during the tournament.
Görener made the jump to the United States prior to his junior season of high school. He spent one season at Montverde Academy in Monteverde, Fla., before transferring to Orange Lutheran High School in southern California. As a senior, Görener was rated as a four star recruit and the No. 142 player in the country by 247sports.
Görener has four years of athletic eligibility remaining.

Majok Kuath, Forward, 6-7, 185
Kuath brings size and high scoring capabilities with him from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas where he averaged 12.7 points per game in two seasons with the Blue Dragons. Last season, he started 24 of 25 contests in which he averaged 13 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 61.3 percent from the floor. The big man tallied 18 games with double figures, including a pair 22-point, 10-rebound double-doubles.
As a freshman at Hutchinson, Kuath played in 32 games with eight starts, averaging 12.5 points and 5.6 boards. He had 18 double-digit scoring efforts with four 20-plus point outings. His biggest game of the season was an eye-popping 34-point, 15-rebound double-double at Cowley Community College in which he was 13-of-15 from the floor and knocked down 8-of-8 from the charity stripe.
The 6-foot-7 shooting forward from Salt Lake City played four years of high school ball at Kearns High School. His biggest year by far was his senior campaign that saw him score at least 10 points in 25-of-26 games. He nearly averaged a double-double with 17.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Kuath posted 14 double-doubles on the season including a 28-point, 16-rebound showing on the road against Granger.
Kuath, whose brother, Kur, played last season for the University of Oklahoma before transferring to Marquette, has three years of athletic eligibility remaining.

"Majok comes from a highly successful program at Hutchinson Community College, and helped lead them to a NJCAA Tournament birth. He understands winning and has great DNA, with his brother, Kur, playing at Oklahoma last season. He's a versatile front court player with a nose for the basketball and plays hard on every possession."
Joshua O'Garro, Guard, 6-5, 175
O'Garro is a former four-star prospect that joins the Spartans after one season at the University of Oklahoma. The big man played sparingly in his lone season with the Sooners, appearing in two games off the bench.
Originally from George Town, Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands, O'Garro moved to the United States in 2016. He played high school ball at Santa Clarita Christian School in Santa Clarita, Calif., where he earned multiple accolades. As a sophomore, he earned spots on the All-CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) Southern Section and All-Heritage League second teams after averaging 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
O'Garro then saw a major production bump as a junior, averaging 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game in 2019-20 en route to earning First Team All-State honors and a spot on the All-CIF Southern Section First Team. He reclassified to the class of 2021 to join Oklahoma early as the No. 132 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 14 player in California. He now joins the Spartans with four years of eligibility remaining.
