Colorado Springs, Colo.----- Defensive lineman Cade Hall headlines five San Jose State University players named to the 2021 preseason Mountain West football squad as voted by a group of media members regularly covering any of the 12 teams.
Hall was named the preseason Defensive Player of the Year as a continuation of his outstanding 2020 season in which he was the Mountain West's Defensive Player of the Year, the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Mountain West championship game, and an All-America player by The Sporting News, USA Today, and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Entering his fourth season as a Spartan, Hall was credited with 10.0 quarterback sacks and 12.0 tackles for loss in seven games for San Jose State which finished with a 7-1 win-loss record and a final ranking of 24th in the final Associated Press poll a season ago.
Bookend defensive end Viliami Fehoko, safety Tre Jenkins, and offensive lineman Jack Snyder joined Hall on the preseason all-conference team. Fehoko and Snyder were 2020 first-team All-Mountain West honorees; Jenkins, a second-team pick.
