Norman, Okla.---- For the third consecutive year, a San Jose State University golfer is receiving a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholar Award.
Sophomore Carl Corpus, the team leader in under par rounds with five in 18 rounds of action during the Spartans' abbreviated season, kept the San Jose State streak intact with his sophomore standing, his 74.28 stroke average and exceeding the 3.20 cumulative grade-point average.
The award for Corpus is his first GCAA academic honor and his second of the summer. Earlier, he was named to the 2021 Mountain West all-academic team.
Corpus' best finish last spring was a 14th place tie at three-under par 213 at the 54-hole Mountain West Championship.
Corpus, joins current teammate Matt Heitel as a GCAA All-American Scholar. Heitel and former teammate Parker Sisk were honored in 2020. Ben Campbell was a 2019 GCAA All-American Scholar.
