First Touches
- Santa Clara, fresh off a national championship, checks into the opener for both teams ranked No. 2 in the nation. The Broncos, led by Jerry Smith in his 35th season, are coming off a 6-2 exhibition win over Fresno State.
- The San Jose State offense saw major strides in their lone exhibition match of the 2021 season. The Spartans won by a final of 2-0 over Sacramento State, attempting 21 shots, including 10 on-goal, with six players putting up multiple scoring chances.
- The Spartans made nine additions to their roster in the offseason. Junior college transfer Kiana Miyazato joins the ranks after leading Phoenix College to the NJCAA Division II National Title. Additionally, eight freshmen signed with SJSU during the 2021 signing period - Karina Barkmeyer, Carly Burns, Tiana Cello, Bella Flocchini, Kayla Fortenberry, Autum Monty, Taylor Phillips and Shayla Sugai.
