One Spartan Nation Members Charge to Banner Year in Fundraising

SAN JOSÉ, Calif. – When the world shut down due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, loyal members of One Spartan Nation stepped up to the challenge. As a result of this wonderful support, membership in One Spartan Nation increased by 50 percent during the 2020-21 year. This significant membership increase led to over $5.7 million given in support of student-athlete scholarships and other support impacting the lives of SJSU student-athletes.

"Thank you to our loyal One Spartan Nation members that have helped elevate San José State through giving," said Rob Clark, Senior Deputy Athletics Director. "We are excited about the future initiatives to grow our fan base, One Spartan Nation, and the opportunities for members to help SJSU to build champions in the classroom, competition, and community."

IMPACT OF ONE SPARTAN NATION MEMBERSHIP
One Spartan Nation members made a lasting impact in 2020-21. Below are several of the highlights demonstrating the impact members make through their One Spartan Nation membership:

SOUTH CAMPUS TRANSFORMATION
Over the course of several years, One Spartan Nation members and San José State University have transformed South Campus facilities. These facilities include the Spartan Athletics Center (construction beginning September 2021), Golf Facilities, Tennis Complex, Softball Facility, Tennis-Softball Facility, Beach Volleyball, Soccer Facilities, and Baseball Practice Facility. "Pardon our Dust" will continue to be the mantra as the South Campus continues to transform.

BASEBALL PRACTICE FACILITY
Through the generous support of many investors, including a lead gift from the Lurie Family and incredible leadership from the Trapani Family, the Baseball Practice Facility has become a reality.

SOCCER STADIUM UPGRADES COMING SOON
Through the generous investment of the Swanson Family, the Spartan Soccer teams will have a new look in 2022 with grandstands projected to seat 1,000 loyal fans. The Swanson's loyal investment in the Spartan Athletics Center will also impact both football and soccer student-athletes (story here).

LAUNCH OF VERMEIL FUND & MEMBERS COVERING FOOTBALL RELOCATION
With the launch of the Dick Vermeil Fund for Football Excellence, One Spartan Nation members offset the costs to relocate the 2020 Mountain West Conference Championship football team. The incredible season last year was made possible through the loyal support of members making gifts and several others inviting members to support. It is evidence that One Spartan Nation helps build champions in competition.

FOREVER SPARTANS
Several One Spartan Nation members became Forever Spartans by naming San José State in their estate plans.  One example of how they have made a lasting legacy by becoming a Forever Spartan through making an estate gift is Steve Springer.
