SJSU Athletics Adds Painter and Sheldon, Elevates Hill

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Former San José State water polo athlete and graduate Sierra Painter joins One Spartan Nation on the development team, along with Alexandra Sheldon for San José State Athletics, while Cottrell Hill earned a promotion to Director of Facilities and Events, announced by Senior Deputy AD Rob Clark on Thursday.

"We are thrilled to elevate Cottrell and add to our great One Spartan Team," said Clark. "Cottrell is an SJSU alumnus who has provided excellent service in facilities/event management for our coaches and student-athletes. Sierra is a dynamic former student-athlete who will quickly endear herself to One Spartan Nation. Alex brings strong experience in providing first-class hospitality and events that can enhance the gameday experience for our members."

Cottrell Hill

  • Hill enters his fifth season within the athletics department
  • He was promoted to Director of Facilities and Events recently and will oversee all student workers for facilities, as well as running point on soccer and softball facilities and assisting with CEFCU stadium
  • A 2015 SJSU graduate, Hill earned his degree in Kinesiology and worked inside the events center as a student for athletic events, school ceremonies, concerts and other events

Sierra Painter

  • Painter will serve as the Assistant Director for Ticket Sales and Donor Services
  • She competed for water polo and was elected team captain for the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons
  • A former MPSF All-Academic Scholar Athlete (2017, '19, '21), Painter earned her master's degree from SJSU in 2021 in sports management, and received her bachelor's degree in communication studies from SJSU in 2019
  • Previously worked as a graduate assistant in Beyond Sparta Program and interned at the San Jose Sharks in 2018

Alexandra Sheldon

  • Sheldon will serve as the Assistant Director for Hospitality and Events
  • She previously worked at Stanford (2017-20), San Francisco Giants (2017-20), Cal (2018-19) and Menlo Park Legends Baseball (2015-16)
  • Sheldon will oversee management of the Gold Room, Hardwood Lounge and other premium experiences exclusive to One Spartan Nation members
