Spartans' Snyder Named To 48th Annual Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List

Houston, Texas ---- As a returning first-team All-Mountain West offensive lineman and one of the top left tackles in college football, San Jose State University's Jack Snyder is one of 80 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players listed on the 2021 Rotary Lombardi Award watch list.

Named after legendary football coach Vince Lombardi, who coached the Green Bay Packers to Super Bowl I and II victories, the award honors college football's top offensive or defensive lineman whose performance and ability "best exemplifies the character and discipline of Pro Football Hall of Fame Coach Vince Lombardi."

To be considered for the Rotary Lombardi Award, a FBS player must be a down lineman setting up no further than 10 yards to the left or right of the football when it is snapped; or a linebacker setting up no further than five yards from the line of scrimmage; is not listed as an offensive back or a receiver; and is eligible to participate in games this season.

Snyder is preparing for his fifth active season at San Jose State and is the team's most experienced player with 45 games played and 40 starts. He has started the Spartans' last 38 consecutive games dating back to the 2017 season. Snyder is a two-time All-Mountain West offensive lineman earning honorable mention honors in 2019 and first-team recognition in 2020. ProFootballFocus.com graded Snyder as one of the top three left tackles in college football in 2020 based on run blocking and pass protection.

A four-time Academic All-Mountain West and three-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete award winner, Snyder majored in business administration at San Jose State and is in his second year pursuing a master's degree in urban planning. He has completed internships with  property management, commercial property and casualty insurance, and real estate investment companies in Santa Clara county.

From those on the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list, 12 semifinalists will be announced on October 13. Four finalists will be named on November 9. The awards ceremony is scheduled for December 8 in Houston, Texas.

The Rotary Lombardi Award watch list is the most recent preseason honor for the 6-foot-5, 315-pound Spartan from Kentfield, Calif. Earlier, he was named to the Outland Trophy watch list and to the 2021 preseason All-Mountain West football team in a vote by media members.
