BOULDER, Colo.—Sarah Smevog had a nice defensive night with a team-best 14 digs, but the San José State volleyball team was outblocked 15-2 Friday as the team lost at Colorado, 3-0.
 
Smevog recorded double-digit digs in her sixth match this season. She also had three assists for SJSU.
 
•Letizia Cammillucci led the Spartan hitters with seven kills, while Amethyst Harper added five kills.
 
•The Spartans recorded just three service aces in the match, two by Harper and one by Haylee Nelson.
 
•Colorado's 15 blocks is the most against a Spartan team this season.
 
•For the second night in a row, San José State faced a team receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Top-25 poll.
 
Match Summary
Set 1 – The Spartans got as close as 8-11 but Colorado used a 17-3 run to win the set 25-11.
 
Set 2 – The two teams battled for much of the set with four lead changes and nine tied scores. The Spartans got an early 8-5 lead on a Cammillucci kill, and rallied for an 18-17 lead late in the set. Colorado then scored eight of the final 11 points to win 25-21.
 
Set 3 – The Buffs again led from the first serve of the set to win 25-11.
 
The Spartans finish their time in Colorado Saturday with a match against Texas Tech in Boulder beginning at 12 p.m. MT/11 a.m. PT.
