Trio Added To Spartan Softball Roster

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose State softball has officially added three newcomers to the 2022 roster in the form of graduate transfer Lilly Meek and freshmen Ashlynn Griffith and Jules Ronquillo. Head coach Tammy Lohmann made the announcement.

"We are excited to announce the addition of Ashlynn, Jules and Lilly to the Spartan softball family," Lohmann said. "We knew as a coaching staff we wanted to bring in more speed on the base path, and we are excited for this addition to our team. Their speed, athleticism and blue-collar work ethic will continue to help us raise the bar for our program. Welcome to the Spartan Family!"

Meek joins the Spartans after racking up five years of playing experience at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., where she was primarily used as a pinch runner and pinch hitter. In 2018, she was named both a Northwest Conference Scholar Athlete and Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.

Meek joined the Boxers after an impressive high school career in which she excelled in multiple sports. A four-year participant on the diamond, she was named to the All-Fullerton Joint Union District first team and was tabbed as the defensive player of the year in 2015. In 2017, this time on the tennis court, she was also named a first team All-Fullerton Joint Union District selection. Meek played her club softball for the West Coast Hotshots, Lady Bruins and OC United.

An outfielder from Cedar Hill, Texas, Griffith joins the Spartans after a four-year career as a varsity starter for Cedar Hill High School. As a sophomore, she was one of the top base runners in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro with 38 stolen bases on the season. She was named a first team all-district selection for her efforts. In her shortened junior season, Griffith established herself as more than just a base runner by hitting .400 with a .438 on-base percentage while also swiping 25 bases.

Griffith played club ball for one of the top teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro, Impact Gold National Rodriguez. She helped the team advance and compete in the 18U Tier 1 Nationals.

Ronquillo is coming off an outstanding finish to her high school career at Los Alamitos High where she was teammates with fellow Spartan Freshman Taylor Squires. As a senior, she was named a first team Sunset Conference All-League, Los Angeles Times All Star and Orange County High School Coaches Selection All Star.

A four-year varsity letter winner at Los Alamitos High, Ronquillo helped the team capture back-to-back Sunset Surf League Championship titles in 2018-19. After having their 2020 season cut short due to Covid, the 2021 squad ranked in the top-five in the CIF-SS Division I. Ronquillo played club ball for coach TJ Houshmandzadeh for the Firecrackers CA – TJ.
