SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State is set for its first home matches of conference play, welcoming in both Dixie State and UNLV this weekend.

The Spartans have played three matches so far this season inside Spartan Soccer Complex, riding a potent offensive attack to seven goals in those non-conference contests.

First Touches

  • Dixie State is off to a 1-7 start this season but two of its last three defeats have come by just one goal. The Trailblazers opened the season with a shutout victory back on Aug. 26. Friday's fixture will kickoff a two-match road trip for Dixie State.

  • UNLV enters the week with a mark of 4-4 and will face Seattle U on the road on Friday night before making the trip to Silicon Valley. The Rebels have earned victories over Gonzaga, UC San Diego, Sacramento State and UC Irvine so far this season.

  • San José State has won two of its last three conference home openers entering the 2021 season (3-2 vs. CSU Bakersfield in 2019, 1-0 vs. Grand Canyon in 2018).

  • SophomoreEric Waltz impressed in San José State's draw at No. 20 Stanford, making a career-high seven saves as he shutout the Cardinal in goal. The clean sheet marked Waltz's second shutout in his first three career appearances (was the goalkeeper in 1-0 victory over UNLV in 2020-21 regular season finale).

  • With his 21st minute goal at Pacific, senior Finlay Wood became one of just 15 players nationally to take and make two penalty kicks this season.
