SAN JOSE, Calif.—The 2021-22 San José State women's tennis team begins the fall competition season this weekend as the team participates in the San Diego State Fall Classic I in San Diego.
The Spartans are one of six teams competing at the tournament this weekend including CSUN, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, UTEP, and host San Diego State. There are five singles brackets and two doubles brackets with doubles matches starting at 9 a.m. Friday, followed by singles matches at 10 & 11:15 a.m. Depending on the outcome of the matches, the players will play either on the championship or consolation sides of the brackets on Saturday and Sunday.

The 2021-22 team returns six players from last year's Mountain West championship team and welcomes two newcomers. All-Mountain West honorees Irena Muradyan and Alba Pedrero Galindo return as well as Lara Marco Mas, Rozalina Youseva, Raquel Villan Pereira and Javana Babic. Oleksandra Andrieieva, originally from the Ukraine, comes to San José State after playing at Old Dominion, while Olaya Bances Iglesias is the fourth player from Spain to join the team as she hails from Gijon.
