Volleyball Looks to Get Back on Track This Week

SPARTANS LOOK TO GET BACK ON WINNING TRACK: The schedule turns a little different this week for the San José State volleyball team as the team plays matches on different days and splits time on the road and at home. The Spartans host Nevada on Tuesday, before traveling to Fresno State for Thursday's match and do not play on Saturday.

San José State heads into the contest with Nevada looking to stop a three-match losing streak after falling twice at home last week - 3-2 to Wyoming last Thursday and 3-1 to Colorado State on Saturday. The Spartans are tied for fifth in the Mountain West standings with Boise State and Fresno State at 3-3. New Mexico, UNLV and Colorado State sit atop the standings at 5-1.

Bump, Set, Spike
•The Spartans and Nevada meet twice in the next two weeks, playing at Spartan Gym Tuesday night and in Reno on October 26.

•The Spartans continue to be one of the top serving teams in the country, ranking eighth in aces per set at 2.05 and 23rd in total aces with 117.

•The Spartans will play at least one home match in each of the four full weeks of October. The team hosted Wyoming and Colorado State last week, hosts Nevada this Tuesday, and then hosts Air Force on the 23rd and Fresno State on the 30th.

•Haylee Nelson looks to become the third Spartan this season to reach a 1,000 career milestone. She begins the week with 942 career kills (2018-21) and looks to join current teammate Latahevai Lousi on the Spartan career kills list by becoming the 16th Spartan to achieve this feat.

One update to the Spartan schedule. The home match against Utah State on Thursday, November 11, will now be played at 4 p.m., inside Spartan Gym.
