LOGAN, Utah—Senior libero Sarah Smevog joined elite ranks in San José State volleyball program history as she recorded her 1,000th career dig in the team's 3-0 loss at Utah State Saturday afternoon.

Smevog, the team's starting libero for the past three seasons, becomes just the ninth player in school history to record 1,000 career digs. She ends the week with 1,001 career digs after recording 12 in Saturday's match
•Smevog moved into ninth place on the SJSU career digs list this week, passing former Spartan Jeanine Haldi who had 982 digs from 1999-02.
•Amethyst Harper recorded double-digit kills for the 10th time this season as she led the Spartans with 12 kills and hit .333 for the match. She added six digs and two blocks.
•Ryann Thomison hit .467 in the match with 8 kills on 15 attempts and only one error. She and Harper each recorded two blocks to lead the team.
•Latahevai Lousi and Haylee Nelson each had six kills.
•Freshman Madeline Boerstra recorded four kills and a block in two sets played.
•The Spartans are now 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the Mountain West.
•San José State returns to Spartan Gym for the next three matches beginning next Thursday, October 7, against Wyoming at 7 p.m.
Match Summary
Set 1 – The Spartans led the set until Utah State took the lead at 24-23. SJSU tied the set at 24-24, but the Aggies scored the final two points to win 26-24.
Set 2 – SJSU's only lead of the set came at 2-1 on a Nelson kill. The Spartans hit .250 in the set but lost 25-21.
Set 3 – Smevog recorded career dig 1,000 in the set, but Utah State led from first serve to win 25-14.
