Stockton, Calif. — Spartan men's golfers Caleb Shetler and Carl Corpus each shot a three-under 68 and are tied for 11th after the first round of the Visit Stockton Invitational at the par-71 Stockton Country Club Thursday afternoon.
• Shetler was three over through five holes before shifting gears to make an eagle, four birdies and eight pars to finish the day a three-under 68. His eagle came on the par-5, 546-yard #16.
• Corpus had a similar start to his round as he was one-over par through four holes with a par, birdie and two bogeys to start. He then shot four-under par over the final 14 holes with four birdies and 10 pars to finish at three-under 68.
• The Spartans finished the day in fourth place at nine-under 275. The team made two eagles and 11 birdies over the final nine holes of the round.
• Vijay Srinivasan is tied for 20th at two-under 69 as he recorded four birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars on Thursday.
• Kristopher Stiles recorded the team's other eagle for the round, also on the par-5 #16. He shot a one-under 70 to finish the day tied for 25th.
• Nick Watts ended the round tied for 40th at one-over 72.
The Spartans begin the second round on Friday at 8:30 a.m., playing with Sacramento State and Utah.
