SAN JOSE, Calif.—Three Spartans recorded double-digit kills and Ryann Thomison led the team in blocks as the San José State volleyball team defeated Air Force 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-18) Saturday afternoon inside Spartan Gym.

•Latahevai Lousi led all hitters with 12 kills and hit .346 for the match (12-3-26). She also had four digs, an assist and a block.
•Madeline Boerstra recorded 11 kills, two blocks and a dig in the win. She recorded the set-winning kills in the first and second sets.
•Haylee Nelson recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs. She also had two aces and a block in the win. Nelson moved closer to 1,000 career kills and ended the week with 987 kills, needing just 13 kills to become the 16th Spartan in school history with 1,000 career kills.
•Mia Schafer recorded 39 assists, eight digs, a team-best three aces and two blocks.
•Sarah Smevog led the team with 17 digs, her 19th match this season with double-digit digs. She also had three assists and two aces.
•The Spartans have won four straight matches to improve to 13-7 on the season and end the day in third place in the Mountain West standings at 7-3.
Match Summary
Set 1 – The Spartans won 25-23 as Boerstra put down a kill for point 25. The two teams combined for 11 tied scores and four lead changes in the set.
Set 2 – Air Force led for much of the match and had set point at 24-23, but back-to-back Falcon hitting errors gave SJSU the 25-24 lead. Boerstra again had the set-winning kill for SJSU for the 26-24 victory.
Set 3 – The Spartans fell behind 9-4 and trailed 15-11 before tying the set at 18-18. SJSU scored the final seven points of the set which included a solo block by Thomison, an ace by Smevog and three kills by Lousi including the match winner. San José State won the set 25-18 to claim the sweep.
San José State plays twice next week – Tuesday at Nevada at 6 p.m., and next Saturday the 30th against Fresno State inside Spartan Gym beginning at 7 p.m.
