RENO, Nev. - Junior Juliane Laurent scored her first-career goal to provide a spark for San Jose State women's soccer after allowing two second half goals to Nevada, however the Spartans were unable to score another on short time as the comeback bid fell short in a 2-1 final on Sunday at Mackay Stadium.
- After a scoreless affair in the opening half, both teams came out with a sense of offensive urgency in the second half.
- Nevada scored two goals in a span of five minutes midway through the half to take a lead. The first came way of a penalty kick inside the 67th minute while the other came off the foot of Emily Rich as she slid a shot past Autum Monty that struck the right post and bounced in for the goal.
- Laurent's goal came not even a full minute after Nevada's second score. Jada Wilson lobbed a deep pass into the box forcing the Wolf Pack keeper to come out and try to knock the ball away, however it favorably fell to the feet of the awaiting Laurent who effortlessly fired home the goal to cut the deficit in half.
- The goal was Laurent's first of her career and was on just her third shot attempt of the season.
