STANFORD, Calif.—The San José State women's tennis team advanced three singles to the round of 32 and one doubles team to the round of 16 at the ITA Northwest Regional at Stanford this weekend.
•Jovana Babic advanced in both singles and doubles. In singles, she advanced to the round of 64 after her opponent withdrew in the first round. Babic then defeated Jenna Gordon from Santa Clara in three sets before falling to the fifth seed Alexandra Yepifanova of Stanford in straight sets.
• Babic paired with Raquel Villan Pereira to win their first two matches, winning 6-4 in the round of 64 and 7-6 (6) in the round of 32 before falling to the top seeded pair of Blake and Ma from Stanford, 6-1.
•Lara Marco Mas won her first singles match in straight sets over Scout Mathews from Easter Washington, 6-4, 6-3. Marco Mas then needed three sets to defeat Paige Alter of Sacramento State, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Marco Mas then faced top-seeded Vanessa Wong of Washington in the round of 16 and fell 6-2, 6-1.
•Alba Pedrero Galindo won her two singles matches in straight sets – first over Olive Maunupau from UC Davis, 6-0, 6-2 and Lene Hovda from Saint Mary's, 6-2, 6-1. Pedrero Galindo then faced conference foe Yinglak Jittakoad from Fresno State in the round of 32 and fell 7-6, 6-2.
