BUMP, SET, SPIKE
•San José State begins the week with a four-match winning streak after a 3-2 win at New Mexico last Thursday night and a 3-0 sweep of Air Force in Spartan Gym on Saturday.

•The Spartans are alone in third place in the Mountain West standings at 7-3. Colorado State sits atop the standings at 9-1, followed by Utah State at 8-2. The top-six teams advance to the 2021 MW Tournament in Las Vegas, November 24-26, at the Cox Pavilion.

•With two wins last week San José State improves to 13-7 on the season and 7-3 in the MW. The 13 wins are the most for the Spartans since the 2018 season when the team was 16-11 and 11-8 in the MW.

•Graduate studies are not hindering Ryann Thomison from having the best season of her Spartan career. Last week typifies this season as she hit  .309 for two matches and averaged 3.00 kills and 1.63 blocks as the SJSU went 2-0. She recorded a career-best 16 kills in the win at New Mexico and added a season-best 8 blocks against the Lobos. Thomison added eight kills and five blocks in the sweep of Air Force.

This season is proving to be her best season, an extra season Thomison was able to have because of COVID-19. Thomison graduated this past spring with a bachelor's degree in nutritional science and is studying the same in graduate school. With at least eight matches remaining this season, she has recorded her biggest number of kills in a season at 158 and needs only 12 more blocks to match her sophomore year.

Haylee Nelson looks to become the third Spartan this season to reach a 1,000 career milestone this season. She begins the week with 987 career kills (2018-21) and looks to join current teammate Latahevai Lousi on the Spartan career kills list by becoming the 16th Spartan to achieve this feat.

Please note the time of the November 11 match against Utah State will start at 4 p.m., inside Spartan Gym. The time for the November 13 match will be announced on November 1.
