SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State Athletics will debut The Charge, stories of SJSU Athletics, this Friday on NBC Sports Bay Area at 8 p.m. Fans will get an in-depth look at the student-athletes, teams and the department in a new cutting-edge way as the all-access show will air monthly throughout the 2021-22 season.
"We are looking forward to bringing these exceptional stories to our community of San José State," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "These storylines will feature the most compelling accounts of our student-athletes and department."
The seven-episode show will be produced by Atomic Productions, Inc., along with SJSU Athletics beginning on NBC Sports Bay Area. There will be several re-airs throughout each month on NBC Sports California.
"Creating these key partnerships with NBC Sports Bay Area and California, as well as Atomic Productions, Inc. has given us the opportunity to share these feature style human interest stories with fans of SJSU Athletics," said Scott MacDonald, Deputy Athletics Director for PR and Content Strategy.
Season 1, Episode 1
- First segment: Starting linebacker Tysyn Parker shares his story, which includes a great tragedy early in his life, all the way to his success at SJSU on and off the field
- Second segment: Former softball standout player Emma Entzminger (2015-18) talks about her Olympic experience in Tokyo and helping Team Canada win the bronze medal
- Third segment: The Charge of the Spartans, a new vision statement with the new leadership of Director of Athletics Jeff Konya
- Fourth segment: Check out the 10th-ranked SJSU women's golf team and learn about the strong summer that led to an exceptional fall
