Spartans Extend Unbeaten Streak Friday Night

SAN JOSE, Calif. - David Sweeney made four saves to lead the Spartan Defense to their sixth shutout of the season as San Jose State men's soccer played to a scoreless tie against Chicago State on Friday evening. The Spartans remain undefeated in the month of October, producing a result in all eight matches.

• The Spartans are 6-0-2 for the month with Sunday's match against Houston Baptist to determine if SJSU can finish the October with no losses.

• San Jose State out-shot the Cougars 25-13, including eight shots on goal. Willy Miranda took eight shots in the match including three on goal. Omar Lemus had five shots, followed by Rudi Castro with four.

• Sweeney is now 6-3-2 on the season as he recorded his fourth shutout of the year. In 110 minutes, he only had to make four saves thanks to his back line preventing many attempts to get past.

San Jose State plays their final home match of the season on Sunday when the team hosts Houston Baptist for a 3:00 p.m. match at the Spartan Soccer Complex. The Spartans will honor their seniors in a Senior Day Ceremony prior to kickoff.
