SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose State women's soccer is set to take a weekend road trip to the Mountains this weekend, first stopping in Boise, Idaho for a Friday afternoon meeting against Boise State before making their way to Logan, Utah for a noon kick against the Aggies of Utah State. The Spartans enter the weekend an even .500 in conference play (2-2-0).

First Touches

  • Spartan Newcomers have accounted for 63.6 percent of San Jose State's goals this season. That ranks second in the Mountain West this season (Nevada - 75 percent).
  • Freshman midfielder Taylor Phillips continues to impress in her first season in a Spartan Kit. In 12 games, she has totaled a team-best eight points (three goals, two assists). Her three goals are currently tied for the ninth most in the Mountain West.
  • Boise State is seventh in the MW standings with a 1-2-1 record in league play and sits at 7-4-1 overall. They are coming off an 0-2 for two weekend against two of the top teams in the conference - San Diego State and New Mexico.
  • The Broncos are led by Jim Thomas in his ninth season at the helm and have played exceptionally well in home games this season. They are the only team in the Mountain West with a perfect record at home (4-0).  Boise State has four scorers with multiple goals on the year, led by junior forward Keile Hansen, who leads the team with seven points (three goals, one assist).
  • Boise State leads the all-time series with a 10-8-5 mark, including a 6-1-3 record in games played in Boise. The Spartans are looking for their first road win in the series since 2014.
  • Like San Jose State, Utah State is .500 in league play through the first two weeks of MW action. The Aggies are 9-3-1 overall. After a 2-0 start against Nevada and UNLV, the Aggies dropped both road matches last weekend against New Mexico and San Diego State.
  • The Aggies are led by first-year head coach Manny Martins. They are led offensively by a trio of some of the top performers in the league this season. Senior Ashley Cardoza ranks third in the MW in total points with 18 (five goals, eight assists), while junior Sara Taylor (10 points) and senior Sammie Murdock (nine points) have also impressed early on.
  • Utah State holds the all-time advantage in the series 7-4-3 and are 2-0-4 in games played in Logan.
