SAN JOSE, Calif.—Letizia Cammillucci recorded her first career double-double, and Haylee Nelson led the Spartan volleyball team in kills Thursday night. However, San José State fell to Wyoming, 3-2, in a hard-fought match inside Spartan Gym.

•In her first double-double in a Spartan uniform, Cammillucci had career-bests of 16 kills and 16 digs. She added three assists, two block assists and an ace.
•Nelson led a quartet of Spartan hitters who recorded 10 or more kills in a match. She had 17 kills, followed by Cammillucci at 16, Amethyst Harper with 14 and Ryann Thomison with 10. It is the second time this season SJSU has had four players record 10+ kills in a match.
•Setter Mia Schafer recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 47 assists and 11 digs. She added three kills and three aces in the match.
•For the second time in three matches, Sarah Smevog recorded 20+ digs in a match. She had 24 digs against Wyoming, the fourth time this season she has had 20+ digs and 15th in her career.
•The Spartans tied their season-best with 13 service aces in the match. Thomison led the team as she tied her career high with four aces. Schafer and Harper each had three, while Cammillucci, Nelson and Smevog each had one.
Match Summary
Set 1 – Wyoming led for much of the set, and had set point at 24-22, but the Spartans got a Thomison kill and a Cowgirl hitting error to tie the score at 24-24. Harper's service ace gave SJSU the 25-24 lead. Wyoming tied the set but gave the point back on a service error, and Thomison put the ball down for a 27-25 win.
Set 2 – The Spartans led 12-11, before Wyoming used a 8-1 run to lead 19-13 and won the set 25-18.
Set 3 – SJSU led 15-14 at the media timeout and led by as many as six at 22-16. Cammillucci put down one of her 16 kills for the set winner at 25-21.
Set 4 – The fourth set featured 11 tied scores and seven lead changes. The Spartans led 22-21 before the Cowgirls scored four of the final five points to win 25-23 and force a fifth set.
Set 5 – The final set was similar to the fourth as the two teams exchanged leads five times and had 10 tied scores. The Spartans jumped out to an 11-7 on a Thomison service ace. However, Wyoming scored the next five points to take a 12-11 lead. San José State then had match point at 14-13 on a Harper kill, but Wyoming scored the final three points to win 16-14.
San José State is now 9-6 on the season and 3-2 in the MW. The team continues at home with a match against Colorado State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
