SJSU Signs Sabrina Ma for Women's Basketball

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Sabrina Ma has signed a national letter of intent to play college basketball at San José State, announced by women's basketball head coach Jamie Craighead on Wednesday. Ma, a senior at St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco, is a 5-foot-10 guard that garnered all-league honors in 2020.

"Sabrina is a sharp shooter that will be a threat on the perimeter right away," said Craighead. "Her ability to stretch the floor with her shot and create off the dribble will allow her to play multiple positions for us. She is a competitor that will make an impact right away. We are thrilled that Sabrina is a Spartan."

  • Earned Kevin Restani Award, given to the player of the year, for SF Italian Athletic Club
  • Named WCAL All-League Second Team in 2020
  • Prep2Prep CCS Honors Third Team in 2020
  • AAU Team: Jason Kidd Select

"One of the main reasons I chose SJSU was because of the amazing coaching staff they have here," said Ma. "I could tell that all the coaches were super genuine and passionate about seeing growth in their players and I knew that this is where I wanted to be in order to improve on the court and off. I also knew that I wanted to play somewhere I was wanted and they continuously showed me that they believed in me, which I'm extremely grateful for. I definitely know that this team and coaching staff will not only improve me as a player, but as a person as well."
