SAN JOSE, Calif.—For the third time this season, four Spartan volleyball players have recorded double-digit kills in a match to lead San José State to a 3-1 win over Utah State Thursday evening in a Mountain West match inside Spartan Gym.

•Letizia Cammillucci led all hitters with a career-best 19 kills and added eight digs on the night.
•Haylee Nelson added 14 kills and eight digs in the match. She moved up the San José State career kills list and is now 14th all-time with 1,067 kills, passing Hanah Blume at 1,064.
•Latahevai Lousi and Ryann Thomison each had 13 kills. Lousi had a season-best nine digs and two blocks, while Thomison hit .379 for the match (13-2-29).
•Mia Schafer recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 48 assists and a career-high 19 digs.
•For the sixth time this season, Sarah Smevog recorded 20-plus digs in a match as she had 21 digs in the win. She has accomplished the feat 17 times in her career.
•Tough Spartan serving was key to the win. After not recording one ace in the team's previous match, San José State recorded a season-best 14 aces in the win, led by Smevog with four, Madeline Boerstra and Lousi with three each and Nelson and Schafer with two a piece.
•With the win, San José State clinches a spot in the MW Championship, November 24-26, in Las Vegas. The Spartans are currently tied with Utah State for second-place in the standings at 11-4.
•San José State improves to 17-8 on the season, the most wins since the 2017 season. The 11 MW wins ties with the 2018 team for the most conference wins since joining in 2013.
Match Summary
Set 1 – The two teams battled during the set with eight lead changes and 12 tied scores. The Spartans fought off two Utah State set points before taking the lead at 26-25 on an Aggie hitting error and winning 27-25 on a Boerstra service ace.
Set 2 – The teams again battled early on in the set with San José State taking the lead for good at 13-12 on a Nelson kill. The Spartan led 24-20, but Utah State made a late charge before a Lousi kill gave SJSU the 25-23 win.
Set 3 – Two good teams battling for the win shown again in the third set as the Aggies did not give up and led 18-14. The Spartans took the lead at 19-18, but USU scored 8 of the final 13 points to win 26-24.
Set 4 – The Spartans jumped out to an early 7-2 lead behind four Cammillucci kills and maintained the lead for the rest of the set to win 25-22.
San José State has one more home match this season – this Saturday versus Boise State at 1 p.m., inside Spartan Gym. The program will honor the careers of Lousi and Thomison after the match, and welcomes all Spartan alumni to the match.
