San Jose State University goalkeeper Yahav Fire and utility player Bende Pardi were named All-Golden Coast Conference men's water polo players for the 2021 season in a vote by the six conference coaches.
Fire was named to the first team as the only goalkeeper selected. He is tied for the top spot nationally in saves per match at 10.8. Fire one of only seven goalkeepers nationally with a save percentage of better than .500 with his sixth-place ranking of .510 and ranking. His 264 saves ranks third nationally heading into the Golden Coast Conference tournament the weekend of November 19-21.
Pardi, only the third Spartan to score more than 50 goals in a season since the program was reinstated in 2015, was an honorable mention all-conference pick and named to the Golden Coast Conference all-freshman team.
Fire, Pardi, and the Spartans begin tournament action, Friday, November 19, as the No. 4-seed in the six-team Golden Coast Conference tournament. San Jose State's opening round opponent is No. 5-seed Pepperdine in a 7:00 p.m. match at UC Irvine. The winner advances to Saturday's semifinal round against top-seeded Long Beach State. The championship match is Sunday, November 21, at 1:00 p.m.
