• The Spartans finished the regular season ranked eighth nationally in the Collegiate Water Polo Association coaches poll for the third consecutive week.
• San Jose State's 15 wins are the team's best single-season win total since the program was reinstated in 2015.
• The Spartans are the Golden Coast Conference Tournament's No. 4-seed, it's highest ever since joining the conference. San Jose State's opening round opponent, Pepperdine, is the No. 5-seed.
• The two teams are facing each other for the third time this season. San Jose State defeated Pepperdine, 11-9, at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Invitational in Berkeley, and 10-9 at home in GCC action. Bende Pardi scored seven times for the Spartans in the two matches.
• Friday's winner advances to semifinal action against No.1-seed Long Beach State, Saturday, November 20 with a championship match Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
• San Jose State is 1-6 in conference tournament matches since 2015. Its one victory was a 17-14 triumph over Pepperdine in the 2015 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament's ninth place match.
• Yahav Fire and Pardi were named first team and honorable mention All-Golden Coast Conference players, respectively, earlier in the week according to a vote by the conference's six head coaches. For Fire, it was his third all-conference honor in his four seasons as a Spartan.
