RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Ibrahima Diallo posted his first double-double with a career-high 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Alvaro Cardenas added 12 points and seven assists to lead San José State (1-2) against California Baptist (4-0) on Thursday night in front of a rowdy crowd inside the CBU Events Center. CBU's Taran Armstrong made two free throws with 7.8 seconds left to give the Lancers a 67-66 victory over the Spartans as he finished with a triple-double 16 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
Trey Smith tallied 14 points to round out double-figure scorers for the Spartans. He made 2-of-7 shots from behind the arc, adding three rebounds and assists to go with two steals. Tibet Görener scored all eight of his points in the opening 20 minutes and Trey Anderson posted seven of his nine points in the second half.

- San José State trailed for the first time this season at the half, 34-31
- The Spartans outscored the Lancers 11-4 to start the second half to take the lead, 42-38 (17:04)
- SJSU led by nine points with 5:21 remaining in the game, 62-53
- CBU posted a 12-2 run over four minutes to take a 65-64 lead with 1:28 left in the contest
- Diallo made a nice hook shot in the paint to give the Spartans a 66-65 lead with 1:04 remaining
- SJSU missed two free throws with 24.9 seconds left and then fouled Taran Armstrong at the other end with 7.8 seconds left as he converted both to give the Lancers the lead again
- The Spartans had a chance to win the game at the end, but the shot did not fall
