SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State softball head coach Tammy Lohmann signed Reina Zermano, Ahmiya Noriega and Avery Relph to a national letter of intent and all three will join the Spartans for the 2022-23 season as incoming freshmen.

Reina Zermano (5'7" - SS/C)
- As a junior in 2021: Delta League 1st team All-League, 2021 San Joaquin Section All-Section Softball
Team, NFCA All-West Region 2nd Team, Extra-Innings High School All-American 2nd Team, Team Co-MVP, Scholar
Athlete Award - .500 batting average, 43 hits, 23 RBI, .964 fielding percentage in 2021
Why Reina chose San José State: "I chose SJSU because I really like the area and it has great courses and opportunities for what I want to study. The school is very diverse and that's important to me and when I visited I liked the college town feel and could see myself there for 4+ years."
Coach Lohmann on Zermano: "We're excited to welcome Reina to the blue and gold family. She has a quiet confidence about her, with a powerful bat at the plate. She is a competitive, motivated versatile athlete that is a consistent student of the game. With Reina's tremendous work ethic and championship mind set, we can't wait to see what she will accomplish in a Spartan uniform."

Ahmiya Noriega (5'1" - INF/OF)
- The San José native will graduate Silver Creek High School in 2022
- In 2021: led 12-6 Silver Creek in nearly every offensive category: batting average (.594), extra-base hits (14; 8 2B, 4 3B, 2 HR), runs scored (25) and RBIs (17)
Why Miya chose San José State: "I chose SJSU because it's close to home and I fell in love with the campus and the softball program."
Coach Lohmann on Noriega: "We are excited to welcome San José native, Ahmiya, to the Spartan family. Miya is a driven competitor on defense and at the plate. She makes elite plays look routine and plays the game fast and with high energy. She's a triple threat at the plate and we look forward to what she will bring to our line up next year."

Avery Relph (5'7" - LHP/UT)
- Junior year (2021): .455 high school league batting average
- At Tesoro High School, All League, three-year scholar athlete, named captain as a senior
- 1.98 ERA, 35-8 Win- loss record, and 0.95 walk+hits per innings pitched (WHIP) over 300+ innings while playing for California Cruisers club team
Why Avery chose San José State: "I choose SJSU because of the atmosphere, walking onto the campus the first time it felt like home and the place I was meant to be."
Coach Lohmann on Relph: "We are excited to welcome Avery to the Spartan family. She will be a valuable addition to our team and will make an impact both in the circle and at the plate. We look forward to having her on campus next fall."
Pitching Coach, Leticia Oliverez on Relph: "I am excited that Avery has decided to become a Spartan! She is a crafty lefty who effectively uses her spin to maneuver through lineups and is always hungry for the ball. She will not only be an asset on the mound but we are looking forward to her bat as well. It's exciting adding a pitcher like Avery to our staff as she brings a sincere love for the game. I cannot wait to have Avery join us next season and watch her compete in the blue and gold!"
