Kovács Flies Into Record Book on Final Day of Mizzou Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo.—Réka Kovács swam the second-fastest time in school history in the 200 butterfly to lead the San José State women's swimming and diving team on the final day of the Mizzou Invite.

  • Kovács finished second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.05, ranking second on the San José State all-time list. She missed the school record set by Ashlyn Acosta in 2013 by .02 seconds.
  • Kovács' time in the 200 butterfly is also one of the top times in the Mountain West this season. She is only one of three swimmers in the MW to record a sub two-minute time.
  • Ally Chislett finished 15th in the 100 free, while Daria Cocol was 22nd.
  • Izzie Fraire finished 11th in the 200 breaststroke.

San José State now takes a break from competition to finish the semester and finals. The team travels to Southern California to start 2022 with a meet at San Diego State on Tuesday, January 4.
