Biletnikoff Award Adds Derrick Deese, Jr., To Watch List

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.----- Following a consistent and superb October, San Jose State University football tight end Derrick Deese, Jr., is one of six players added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list.
 
            The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football's Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) regardless of position. Eligible players are those playing wide receiver, tight end, and/or a running back position.
 
            Heading into the November 6 game at Nevada, Deese, Jr., leads San Jose State with 36 pass receptions for 634 yards and three touchdowns. In five October games, Deese, Jr., had 28 of his season total of pass receptions.
 
His 17.6 yards per catch average and three 100-yard receiving games are among the top five figures for a tight end this season.
 
            From its current list of 69 players on the watch list, a group of semifinalists will be announced during week of November 8. Three finalists will be named on November 23. The winner will be announced on Thursday, December 9, on the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
 
            The award winner will be recognized on March 5, 2022, at the Biletnikoff Award Banquet & Celebration at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
 
            The Biletnikoff Award, named in honor of former Oakland Raiders and Pro and College Football Halls of Fame wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff, is sponsored by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation (TQC Foundation) and is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA).
