LARAMIE, Wyo.—Haylee Nelson and Mia Schafer each recorded double-doubles, and Ryann Thomison put down the last point as the San José State volleyball team won their third consecutive fifth-set match, 3-2, at Wyoming (25-14, 23-25, 19-25, 25-17, 18-16) Thursday night inside the UniWyo Sports Complex.

•Nelson led all hitters with 19 kills and recorded her seventh double-double of the season and 19th of her career with 16 digs.
•Schafer had her ninth double-double of the year with 44 assists and 14 digs. She also added three kills, two aces and a career-best five blocks.
•Three Spartans recorded double-digit kills in the win, led by Nelson's 19. Latahevai Lousi had 17 kills, while Ryann Thomison added 12 kills.
•The five set win was the third in a row for the Spartans and the fourth in five matches. The team has won in five sets this season over New Mexico, Nevada, Fresno State and Wyoming over the past two weeks.
•Thomison and Schafer each recorded five blocks in the win. Lousi, Boerstra and Pitpit each had two blocks.
•Four Spartans had double-digit digs in the win, led by Sarah Smevog with 19. Nelson followed with 16, then Schafer at 14 and Alessia Buffagni at 11. Two others were one dig away from double-digits – Lousi and Letizia Cammillucci at nine.
• San José State is now 16-7 overall and 10-3 in the MW. The seven-match winning streak is the longest of the season for the team and is currently tied for the seventh-longest active streak in the nation. Louisville has won 21 straight matches to lead Division I.
•Until this match, SJSU had not won seven-straight matches since the 2001 season when the team won eight straight matches in September of that year. That team finished with a 25-8 overall record and was the last team to make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Match Summary
Set 1 – The Spartans used a 6-1 run to take a 10-6 lead in the set and didn't look back to win the set 25-14.
Set 2 – The two teams battled in the second set with SJSU tying the score at 23-23 before Wyoming got the final two points to win 25-23.
Set 3 – Lousi got the first kill of the set to give SJSU the 1-0, but the Spartans never had another lead in the set, despite tying the score at 16-16, as the Cowgirls won 25-19.
Set 4 – Wyoming held a slim lead for the first few rallies before SJSU took the lead for good on back-to-back Pitpit-Shafer blocks at 8-6. Lousi got the final kill of the set for the 25-17 win to force a fifth set.
Set 5 – San José State led 14-11, but Wyoming tied the set at 14-14 and took a 15-14 lead. The Spartans then fought off that match point and needed two more points to win the set 18-16 on a Thomison smash for the win.
