Bridgeport, Pa.----- For the first time since the program was reinstated in 2015, San Jose State University has its highest national ranking in the Collegiate Water Polo Association coaches poll in a three-way tie for seventh according to the December 1 poll.
The Spartans (16-15) are tied with UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis in the next-to-last poll of the season. San Jose State had been ranked eighth nationally in the previous four weekly rankings.
The Spartans finished its season with its first winning record since the program's rebirth and advanced to the Golden Coast Conference (GCC) Tournament semifinal round before losing to tournament champion Long Beach State, 8-4.
Goalkeeper Yahav Fire, a first-team All-GCC selection, was named to the seven-player all-tournament team.
