SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State men's basketball team (4-4, 0-0 Mountain West) will host Pacific (4-5, 0-0 WCC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and heard on the Varsity Network Mobile App. Tickets for the game can be purchased here and there will be a In-N-Out Burger gift card giveaway during the game.
- The Spartans and Tigers are playing their first game against each other since the Spartans beat the Tigers on November 28, 2009. The series goes all the way back to March 4, 1910 and they've faced off 158 times
- The Spartans are 4-0 at home to start the season and with a win against Pacific, will go to 5-0 at home for the first time since the 1999-2000 season when they started 6-0 at home
- The Spartans had their first 25 or more points Division I victory against North Dakota (12/3) in a 76-51 win since February 27, 2010 when they defeated Fresno State at home, 72-45 (h/t Rocco Miller)
- The 51 points from North Dakota was the lowest amount the Spartans have given up since December 3, 2016 when they held Santa Clara to 40 in a 55-40 win. The 82 points for Pepperdine (12/6) was the first time the Spartans have given up 80 or more points this season
- Freshman guard Alvaro Cardenas earned Mountain West Freshman of the Week (11/15); He tallied 12 points and 7 assists in his first collegiate start at California Baptist. Against Pepperdine (12/6), Cardenas had a career-high 14 points and four 3-pointers in his third start of the season
- Omari Moore had a career-high 28 points including the game-winning dunk to lead San José State in a 75-74 win vs. Northern Colorado (11/23). Moore ended the game also with a career-high in three pointers made (4) and field goals (11) while adding five assists.
- Moore had nine 3-pointers in his first seven games this season while making eight 3-pointers total in each of the last two seasons
