The San Jose State University men's golf team will see familiar faces and a few new ones in its second tournament of the 2021 season at the 30th annual Amer Ari Invitational in Waimea, Hawaii, February 2-4.
The Spartans are one of nine teams in the tournament and will be facing off against Arizona State Georgia Tech, Pepperdine and USC for the second time in as many weeks. These five teams recently competed in the 42nd annual Southwestern Invitational at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. Arizona State was the top finisher placing second at 877. Host Pepperdine was fifth at 888 followed by USC at 900 and Georgia Tech at 902. After a rough first 18 holes, San Jose State improved its team score each of the remaining two days and finished 11th at 922.
Oregon State, Washington and co-hosts Hawai'I and Hawai'i-Hilo round out the nine-team field.
Tee times on the 6,875-yard par 72 Hapuna Golf Course begin at 8:00 a.m. (HT)/10:00 a.m. (PT) each day. Teams will count the best four 18-hole scores from among its five players in its lineup. All players also are competing for individual medalist honors.
San Jose State has played in this tournament every year since 2011. The Spartans' best finish in the last 10 years was eighth in a 16-team field in 2020.
