SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The San José State track and field teams returned to action Saturday and continued its hot start to the 2021 season at the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento.
The men's team posted its second top-two finish in as many meets, finishing No. 2 in team scoring with a total of 105 points. On the women's side, the Spartans placed third for a second straight meet at 95 points.
"It was a great chance to see where we stand against other NorCal schools," said director of track and field Kendra Reimer-Gonzales after the meet. "It's been two years since we have had this opportunity and we shocked a lot of people with how well-rounded and talented our team is. Our men's team tied Stanford and bested Sacramento State and our women's team beat both Sacramento State and UC Davis - perennial powerhouses in track and field. This was an impressive weekend for the program."
SJSU now has two weeks off before resuming the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational on April 2-3.
