SJSU Starts Conference Play at Rival Fresno State

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State men's basketball team (7-5, 0-0 Mountain West) heads to Fresno State (10-4, 0-1 Mountain West) on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. for the Spartans first conference game of the season. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and heard on the Varsity Network Mobile App. 

  • SJSU comes off a 118-43 home win over Bethesda (1-1 versus Division I teams this season) on Saturday
  • The 75-point margin of victory is the largest ever for the Spartans
  • It was the first 100-point game for the Spartans since a 109-70 win over Life Pacific College on Dec. 10, 2016 and the 118 points were the most for the Spartans since that game as well
  • The 20 3-pointers made against Bethesda are a team record (had 17 3-pointers earlier this season on Dec. 17, 2021) and a program record 33 assists
  • It is only the second time since 2017 the Spartans have had seven or more wins in a season Freshman Myron (MJ) Amey, Jr. was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week after having a career-high in points (32), field goals (13), 3-pointers (5) rebounds (7), assists (3) and steals (2) against Bethesda. It is the second Freshman of the Week honor for the Spartans this season
  • The Spartans went 6-5 in their Division I non-conference schedule, which is the most Division I non-conference wins since they won seven in the 2011-12 season
  • Prior to the Santa Clara game, SJSU had their best home start (5-0) since the 1999-2000 season when they went 6-0 at home and have won six of their last eight games overall
  • SJSU's six D1 wins are the most since the 2019-20 season and the most Division I wins for the Spartans since the 2016-17 season
