LAS VEGAS - The San José State men's basketball team (7-9, 0-4 Mountain West) are in Las Vegas to play UNLV (10-8, 2-3 Mountain West) for a Saturday noon tip from the Thomas & Mack Center. The game will be streamed on Stadium and heard on the Varsity Network Mobile App.
- Before having two days off before their game Saturday, the Spartans played three games in five days and are looking for their first Mountain West win of the season
- UNLV is the first opponent the Spartans are playing for the second time this season and only a few days apart after hosting them on Monday
- Freshman Myorn (MJ) Amey, Jr. leads the Spartans with 61 points in 2022 while averaging 12.2 points per game in the new year
- With a 38.2 3-point percentage, SJSU ranks 21st in the nation and second in the Mountain West Conference
- Senior Trey Smith has started more games now (16) in a season than ever before in his career and he has more than the three previous years combined (14). He is also the only Spartan to start every game this season
- It is only the second time since 2017 the Spartans have had seven or more wins in a season
- Amey was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week (1/10) after having a career-high in points (32), field goals (13), 3-pointers (5) rebounds (7), assists (3) and steals (2) against Bethesda. It is the second Freshman of the Week honor for the Spartans this season
- The Spartans went 6-5 in their Division I non-conference schedule, which is the most Division I non-conference wins since they won seven in the 2011-12 season
