Spartans Look to Get on Track at New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE - The San José State men's basketball team (7-11, 0-6 Mountain West) is in Albuquerque to face New Mexico (7-13, 0-7 Mountain West) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (PT) from University Arena. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and heard on the Varsity Network Mobile App. 

  • SJSU is looking for their second win in a row against the Lobos and first in Albuquerque since Feb. 4, 2017
  • Since returning on January 8th, the Spartans have played seven games in 17 days and will play eight games in 20 days during the month
  • The Spartans lead the Mountain West and rank 23rd in the nation averaging 9.7 3-point makes a game. SJSU also ranks third in the MW and are 42nd in the nation in 3-point shooting percentage at 37 percent
  • Senior Trey Smith has started more games now (18) in a season than ever before in his career and he has more than the three previous years combined (14). He is also the only Spartan to start every game this season
  • SJSU had a team record 75-point win over Bethesda (1-1 versus Division I teams this season), 118-43 
  • The Spartans went 6-5 in their Division I non-conference schedule, which is the most Division I non-conference wins since they won seven in the 2011-12 season

New Covid Entry Policy

  • All personnel with a SJSU Tower ID (students, staff and faculty) will only have to show Tower ID and ticket for entry
    • Tower ID holders are within the SJSU Covid protocols
    • Faculty/Staff enter through the lower entrance, while Students enter through the South Doors across from the SRAC
  • Those without a Tower ID will be required to show proof of vaccination with their card, a photo on their phone or QR code
  • Fans that are not vaccinated will be required to show proof of a negative COVID test (Age 3 and up)
    • For Antigen tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 24 hours
    • For PCR tests, negative result of COVID test must be within 48 hours
  • The antigen test can include a take-home test, sold at Walgreens, CVS and other pharmacies

Mask Policy

  • Fans are required to wear masks indoors at all times unless actively eating or drinking
