SAN JOSE, Calif. – Myron (MJ) Amey, Jr. had 23 points and 12 rebounds in his first start for his first career double-double to lead San José State (7-16, 0-11 Mountain West) in a 72-62 loss to San Diego State (14-6, 6-3 Mountain West) from Provident Credit Union Event Center on Wednesday night.
The Spartans went on a late 8-0 run to cut the San Diego State lead to seven with 3:08 left, but couldn't come any closer.
- The 12 rebounds are a career best for Amey and he shot 50% from the field with three 3-pointers on the night
- Omari Moore added 11 points while Trey Anderson put in 10 in his first game back after missing the last 78 minutes of game play for the Spartans
- The Spartans only had five turnovers in the second half
- SJSU played eight healthy bodies and shots 34.6% from three
- Majok Kuath made his Spartans debut with over 11 minutes of playing time and was a +4 in the game
- Matt Bradley led the Aztecs with 23 points
