RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- On a windy and cool day, the 12th-ranked San José State women's golf team shot the low third-round score and pulled off the upset in collegiate women's golf to win the Lamkin Invitational by three strokes over top-ranked Stanford and seven other top-25 teams.

- The Spartans shot a five-over 293 in the final round at The Farms Golf Club to win with a nine-over 873, three shots better than Stanford at +12, 876. Stanford, Arizona and Pepperdine shot the second-lowest score of the third round was 11-over 299
- Natasha Andrea Oon led the Spartans for the fourth consecutive tournament, finishing third at one-under 215. She shot a two-over 74 in the final round. Oon led the tournament field in par-five scoring at -4.
- Kajsa Arwefjäll finished tied for sixth at three-over 219, her second consecutive top-10 finish this season.
- Lucia Lopez Ortega and Antonia Malate tied for 22nd at nine-over 225, while Louisa Carlbom tied for 32nd. Jordyn Parr, playing as an individual, also tied for 32nd at +12.
- San José State, 12th in the latest Golfstat rankings, defeated seven top-25 teams: No. 1 Stanford, No. 4 Oregon, No. 11 Texas, No. 13 Arizona, No. 14 UCLA, No. 18 Arizona State, No. 20 Ole Miss and No. 23 Southern California.
- The Spartans are the only team to defeat Stanford this season as the Cardinal won the four tournaments played in the fall, defeating 54 teams in the process including SJSU twice (The Molly Collegiate Invitational & Stanford Invitational).
- San José State entered the final round tied for second place with Arizona State, three shots behind Stanford. SJSU was one of 10 teams who finished second-round play Tuesday morning before playing the final 18 holes.
- This is the first tournament win for San José State since the 2018-19 season when the Spartans won two tournaments – Minnesota Invitational and The Gold Rush. That year, the team advanced to the NCAA Championships in Arkansas.
San José State and Stanford will compete against each other in match play next Thursday, February 24, at CordeValle in San Martin, Calif.
