SAN JOSE, Calif. - Charles McAdoo went a career-best 4-for-6 with a grand slam and drove in a career-high six runs, while Robert Hamchuk finished 4-for-6 with three runs scored and a double to lead San José State (3-1) to a 14-11 win over Omaha (1-3) in the series finale on Sunday at Excite Ballpark. The Spartans smashed four home runs on the day and outhit the Mavericks, 19-13.
Right-handed reliever Cade Van Allen (1-0) earned the win out of the bullpen, tossing 3.2 innings and struck out five. Hunter Dorraugh connected on his third home run of the series, sending a three-run shot over the left-field fence in the bottom of the sixth inning, while Theo Hardy finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a double.
- The Spartans won an opening weekend series for the first time since sweeping Santa Clara in 2019
- Jack Colette scored three runs
- Omar Gastelum and Brady Hill each had an RBI in the win
- It is the most runs and hits for the Spartans since their win over UC Davis on May 5, 2021 which also was a 14-11 game
