STANFORD, Calif. - Ashley Rico hit a seventh inning double that sparked the San José State Spartans' (3-4, 0-0 Mountain West) lone run in a 1-2 loss to tournament host Stanford (9-2, 0-0 Pac-12) to close out the Stanford Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium.
Jules Ronquillo pinch ran for Rico and scored on a ground out RBI by Jessica Giacoma to cut the deficit to one. Alyssa Graham hit a two out single to center field, but was left stranded and the Spartans fell short of a comeback over the Cardinal.

- San José State had one run on three hits and left two runners on base
- Lacie Ham (1-3) started in the circle and gave up two earned runs and nine hits in 4.0 IP before Jenessa Ullegue came in for relief
- Ullegue (3-0) threw two innings and gave up no hits with three strikeouts in seven batters faced
- The Spartans stranded eight Stanford baserunners
