RENO, Nev . – Robert Hamchuk hit his third leadoff home run of the season and Danny Zimmerman added a three-run shot to lead San José State (9-5, 2-2 Mountain West) in a 12-7 loss at Nevada (5-5, 2-1 Mountain West) Friday afternoon in game one of a three-game series.
The Spartans had the bases loaded in the ninth with one out, but Nelson Padilla struck out on a full count and then Hamchuk flied out to right.
- Hamchuk has three home runs on the season
- Omar Gastelum went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored plus a walk
- For Zimmerman, it was his first home run as a Spartan
- Jack Colette went 2-for-4 with a run scored
- Dalton Bowling went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored
- Jonathan Clark had his first loss of the season and had two strikeouts
- Ruben Mercado went 2-for-3 on the day
- Charles McAdoo extended his on-base streak to 14 consecutive games with a double, a walk, plus he scored a run and had an RBI
